My Lovely AI is app number twenty-one on my roster, and it tells you what it is before you're even through the door: there's an age check first. My plan for every platform is the same: skim the site cold, poke at whatever's available without an account, sign up, squeeze the free tier dry, and only then pay. Here there was nothing without an account, the free one lasted about eight messages, and the paid month cost $19.99.
Where I stand right now
Won me over
- A good-looking app: an interactive homepage, animated character media, and a polished chat screen
- Chat starters and quick-reply chips for when you don't know what to say
- Detailed, descriptive replies, a backstory for every girl, and a chat model you can switch between Normal and Roleplay
- A $2.99 two-day trial if you want to see the paid side before committing
- Four tokens a photo, so the plan's 450 tokens go a long way
- Faces stay consistent from photo to photo
- The photo that stayed locked on my free account opened for free once I subscribed
Bugged me
- No chat at all without an account, and the free account ran dry in about eight messages and never refilled
- Get Premium threw a 403 from my location; I only got through with a US VPN
- $19.99 a month is on the expensive side
- Photos ignore the scene: a storage room became a couch, and a chat about travel got a nude
- Chats swing between her backstory and something explicit, and not one girl asked about me
- An explicit message got me a warning that my account may be blocked, on an app that sends nudes
- Only 56 built-in characters, and one repeated a message word for word
So, who is My Lovely AI actually for?
Two days in, my read is this: My Lovely AI is for roleplay, and for people who want NSFW images. The app looks great, the chat screen is well thought out, every character comes with a backstory, and the faces in the photos stay consistent. If you want to step into a scenario and play it out, that's where it shines.
The core is where it falls short. The replies are detailed, but they lean one of two ways: her own character, or something explicit. Across seven girls, none of them tried to get to know me. For casual, everyday conversation there are better options on my roster. The photos fail the same way: they look like her, but they don't look like the conversation, and more often than not they arrive nude. The memory test is planted and running. More days below as they happen.
The testing timeline
Every session, documented as it happened. Newest entries at the bottom.
An age gate, then a homepage that moves
The first thing My Lovely AI does is ask you to confirm you're over 18 before it lets you in. That tells you something: it leans NSFW. I confirmed and went in. The homepage is clean, but it's also interactive and engaging: girls flash up across the screen rather than one static hero. Scroll down and there are more of them, not too many, mostly sexy images, and then a short guide to what My Lovely AI is and what it offers. A nice touch.
56 girls, and they move
The characters have animated media instead of a plain photo, so they're actually moving, which is a nice touch. They're detailed, and there are both realistic and animated characters, so whatever you prefer, it's here. What there isn't is many of them: I counted 56 built-in characters, realistic and animated together. Compared to other apps that's thin, although you can create your own, and for anyone who isn't into experimenting and just sticks with a few favourites, it's probably enough.
Click a character and you get a proper profile: a biography, a feed and a gallery, with buttons to create images and start a chat. The feed has posts going back as far as 11 months, which makes them feel more like real accounts. The images on the realistic characters lean realistic and the animated ones stay animated, so each girl's look is consistent.
No chat without an account
As always I tried chatting without registering. It locked straight away: without a free account, you can't chat with an AI girlfriend at all. A bummer for someone who wants to explore first. So I signed up, with Google, and it was easy.
Five tokens, and a chat with shortcuts
A new free account comes with five free tokens, and there's a daily check-in that gives you one more token every day you come back. A good way for free users to keep a trickle of tokens without subscribing. I wasn't sure yet what five tokens would buy.
I started with Imogen Reeves, and the chat screen impressed me. Your other conversations sit on the left, her profile on the right, and the chat in the middle opens with suggested starters: say hello, ask for a selfie, tell me a secret. Above the message box there are quick chips too: send me a photo, how was your day, what are your hobbies, tell me a story, I like you. If you're too lazy to type or don't know what to say first, it's all there.
Her replies were detailed and descriptive: what she's doing, what she's feeling, how she looks. That reads more like roleplay than a normal chat. For a casual conversation it isn't what I'd expect, but it's a preference, not really an issue.
A locked photo, then a wall
I asked Imogen for an image. She replied casually that she could snap a pic, which was fine. Clicking the "Send me a photo" chip just puts those words in the chat, so you can add what you want to see. When I asked for a specific photo, my tokens went to zero and the photo still arrived locked. Unlocking it needed a subscription. I had assumed the tokens would cover at least one photo. They didn't.
Out of tokens, the next message hit the paywall: upgrade to Premium. By my count I'd sent eight messages in total. I tried Daria and was locked there too. On a free account, once the tokens are gone, there's no way to chat with anyone without subscribing.
No free messages come back
The next day I went back to the girls I'd chatted with, and I was still locked. Opening other conversations, same thing. Once the free chats are spent, they don't come back. Of all the apps I've tested, this has the most limited free chat.
$2.99 for two days, or $19.99 a month
There's a trial: two days of access for $2.99. That's ideal if you want to try the premium features and still aren't sure; three dollars gets you two days. As always, though, I went for the monthly plan, which is Premium Plus at $19.99, on the expensive side. Three months works out at $14.99 a month, and the annual plan is just $6 a month. There are also token top-ups, from 150 tokens for $9.99 up to 2,000 for $59.99. More on how prices like these compare in my post on how these apps are priced.
A 403, a VPN, and Epoch
Then a major bug. Clicking Get Premium took me to a 403 error page. It looks like it's my location: when I turned on my VPN with a US location, it went through, to a checkout run by Epoch payment solutions. I wasn't sure the purchase would work since I'm not actually in the US, but it did. I was charged $19.99, and the monthly Premium Plus came with 450 tokens.
The billing email came from Epoch, with the merchant name EPOCH.COM *Promptrep. The pricing page promises no adult transactions in bank statements, and neither name says AI girlfriend. It's one of the things in what I check before paying for an AI girlfriend.
Four tokens a photo
Back in Imogen's chat, the photo I'd asked for the day before was already unlocked, without costing me any tokens. A good thing. The daily check-in took me to 451 tokens. When I asked Chloe for an image, it dropped to 447 straight away, so four tokens a photo. Daria's photo took me to 443, so it's consistent. At four tokens, the plan's 450 is over a hundred photos.
Daria's image confirmed that My Lovely AI is for people looking for NSFW. The images lean realistic, although a bit cartoonized. With context, I think they're trying, but there are inconsistencies and errors in the photos. Image generation has room to improve.
Every girl has a backstory
Chloe surprised me. Her character card says she's bright, empathetic and full of life: optimistic, caring, enthusiastic. Her profile picture isn't explicit either, so I expected a wholesome companion. She started out conversing about music, then asked if I could use a drink or something better, and when I said that sounded good, the messages turned more explicit.
Every character has an actual backstory, and that's why I see My Lovely AI leaning towards roleplay. The messages are formatted for it too: italics for what's happening, what she's feeling or doing, and regular text for what she says. Each chat also has a chat model setting, Normal or Roleplay, and Stacy's was set to Roleplay, a character who speaks for herself inside a scene. You can change it.
Nudes yes, explicit messages no
Stacy is a scenario character: the two of you are locked in a university sports storage room overnight, and she is not happy about it. During that roleplay I sent something explicit, and a red banner came up: inappropriate content detected, please stop such actions or your account may be blocked. For an app that allows nudity, I expected explicit messages to be fine too, so that surprised me. Stacy also repeated the exact same message to me at one point, word for word, which is weird.
Building Luna
Next I created a character. The first choice is the character type: Realism, Semi-realism, Sketch, Anime and Anime 3D. As always I went for Realism, the most realistic. Then the creation mode: Guided Flow, step by step, or Pro Prompt, where you write it yourself. I went guided; I don't have the creativity in me to write my own prompt.
The customization covers age, eye colour, hair colour, hair type, body shape, bust size, hobbies, occupation, archetype and personality traits, and you can change the name and the legacy background. I kept those defaults, and got Luna Smith. Definitely not what I was going for.
Luna, and the trip she gets to keep
Since Luna is my own character, she gets the 1-week memory test: the same trip every girl on my roster hears about once and never again. Her answer was the most local one yet. Baguio, perfect timing, the weather's just starting to cool down there, and watch out for the traffic on Kennon Road. Now seven days of about ten messages a day, then the vague question. Her result lands in my 7-day memory test post around October 8.
Seven girls, and none asked about me
After chatting with seven characters, one thing stood out. They don't ask what I do, which is the normal thing girls on other apps ask. They focus on their own character. When I told Aiko I had a lot of tasks to do, she just asked if we could grab a drink and go enjoy some time together. She didn't ask what the tasks were or what my job is. On other apps, the next question would be exactly that.
The topics run the same way. We either talk about her hobbies or something explicit. When I told another girl I'm not a deep person, she steered straight to something more explicit.
Same face, wrong room
On the photos, it's hit and miss. The good part: the characters stay consistent. Stacy sticks to the storyline in the sense that she's always dressed the way she is in her profile photo. The bad part is context. Our storyline had us stuck in that storage room, but when I asked for a photo, we were suddenly on a couch.
Haruka was a bigger miss. We were in the middle of a conversation, and when I asked for a photo, she sent one of her kissing another girl who looked like her twin, in her room. Completely out of context. And with Luna, we'd been talking about places she likes and places I'd like to visit. I asked her to please send me a photo, and she sent one completely naked.
So the faces are consistent, but the images don't follow the conversation, and in some cases there are errors.
Where My Lovely AI shines
Overall, My Lovely AI looks good. The app itself and the chat screen are both well made. What's lacking is the core: the responses. They're detailed, but they always go one of two ways, her character or something explicit, and they don't ask questions to get to know you unless you hand them the details first. Even then, when I said I had a lot of tasks, the reply was to console me, not to ask about them. That's why, after seven characters, I haven't had a long conversation with anyone except Stacy, and that one was pure roleplay.
That's where it shines: roleplay. For casual, normal conversation there are better options. For images too, other apps on my roster do better: these look real and keep the face, but they fail at context and usually send nudes. If NSFW content is what you're after, this will work for you. If you're chatting with a girl and want a photo that adds to the conversation you're having, it falls short. The memory test is planted; I'll update in seven days.
